"Another historic tree - this time one of the Ponderosa Pines in the environs of the Australian Forestry School, Banks St Yarralumla, established in 1927, which is the presumed planting date for this tree. The AFS was built on the edge of Westbourne Woods established by Charles Weston. I recall this tree as a student at AFS in 1961/62 and it has grown a bit since then, though more in girth than in height. There were several planted at the same time in the grounds of the newly built Tudor House as residence for the Principal of AFS (now Westridge House) in Banks Street adjacent to AFS." |
